Emerging Technology Post 3: Digital Video Editing
My topic for this edition of Emerging Technology was Digital Video Editing and its effectiveness with making projects come to life. On the apple website for their education purposes it features the iMovie '11 program. The iMovie program always students to edit video, audio, and pictures to make their project come to life. If I where to assign something that required a broadcast or speech of research, or anything really. This program could very well help them out indeed. There is loads more information on the two apple sites about this program, http://www.apple.com/education/mac/ and http://www.apple.com/ilife/imovie/ . If you do not have an apple computer Microsoft provides you with a soulution in their movie maker program. It is the same basic program as apple provides only it is on windows version computers. It allows you to do exactly the same things described about the iMovie program. For more information visit the movie maker information website http://explore.live.com/windows-live-movie-maker?os=other

Emerging Technology Post 2: PDA's
The technology that I explored was PDA's. My main focus for this technology was on the iPad. But first what is a PDA? A PDA is a personal digital assistant that functions as a information manager. The internet and the ability for such devices to access it has made them more helpful than ever before. Most of the PDA's today are all touch screens. These devices can be helpful as all have appointment calendars, for education this could be helpful as your semester or year plans could be kept on it as well as your computer. Another helpful feature is the synchronization of data from computers or laptops, a way this could be helpful in education is you could always be working even when you’re away from your computer. As I researched the ipad I found that it was probably one of the best handheld devices for educational purposes. One way it can be helpful is the apps that you can download to help give lectures, monitor student progress, and stay organized. One such app is the iTunes U app, this app has hundreds of thousands free lectures, videos, books, and podcasts from prestigious Universities, including IU. I have personal experience using this feature as one of my history professors put every class lecture on iTunes U. The lecture was not just him talking after downloading the first lecture I found that the whole lecture was on there including coinciding slides and students questions. One way it can be helpful for students is that its large touch screen keyboard makes taking notes easy. The app for note taking not only keeps your notes it organizes them chronologically and in landscape view you can see a list of all the notes you have taken for that class. Well if I had an iPad I would use it in all of the ways I described to help give my lectures and help monitor my student’s progress. I learned about all of the ways to use the iPad in the classroom on apples website http://www.apple.com/education/ipad/#itunesu , this website provided detailed instructions on just how to use what app or feature in order to best serve the purpose you need it for. The website also has video instruction on the use of the different apps as well. There is now an ipad 2 in fact that has even more features than the previous version and different interactive tutorials on another apple destination http://www.apple.com/ipad/ . Till next time thanks for stopping by.

Emerging Technology Post 1: Podcasting
The emerging technology under investigation by me this week has been the use of pod-casting. There are several different ways to make your own podcast. A podcast is an audio file posted on the internet either on a blog, social networking site, website, or anything via the internet. The first and easiest one is the use of audacity with lame mp3 encoder library. All you need to do is download audacity from this site http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/beta_windows#recdown , then download v 3.98.3 of lame from this site http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/ . When the downloads are done you can start to mess with audacity and the different ways to make podcast. Another step in making a podcast an mp3 is to open audacity, go to edit, click on preferences then depending on what version of windows you have either click on libraries with windows 7 or click on file formats with a previous version. Then with windows 7 click on locate mp3 library and find lame unless it has already done that. With a previous version you need to click on find library and then a pop-up screen comes up with yes or no click yes and it should find it for you. With this being my first experience I found it was very easy to save an mp3 file. Just for you first podcast keep it simple. Don't make it seem more difficult than it really is and you should be fine.

Making my Blog
Well this being my second experience at making blogs it was easy to setup. This time going through the making process however I fooled around with the background and extra widgets. Which I didn't touch on my previous attempt at making one. I still am not an expert at making them so I chose simple backgrounds with a simple template on the front. Also from my previous experience I did learn not to make things too distracting at the very top. If it is it sometimes can create attention from your actual post and that's the main reason we are making these in the first place. I did find that you can change the location of the special features which I didn't know you could do this I feel helped to lower the distraction level at the same time keeping my page still fun to be on.
Friends & Family
Family always comes first, right? Well since I started college and moved from my original home it seems my friends have kept me going more now than in the past. In high school I could always count on my parents to be there, but since the economic crisis America has found itself in it seems like I am pretty much on my own and find it easier to rely more on my friends than my actual family these days. Hopefully after college its a different story but who knows?
A taste of my expertise
This being my first blog I'm kind of excited to see it going. Now whenever I have a dumb or smart thought I can just put it on my blog and I won't forget about it. Pretty interesting stuff if you ask me. But most of my interest would be video games, sports, and hot spots in town. Whether it be a house party, club, or bar, if it sounds fun I'm all ears.
